Peets and Starbucks

For those of you who say Peets and Starbucks don't have interrelated histories, read this article from peets.com.

For those of you too lazy to click the link, here is a synopsis:
Peets and Starbucks were separate companies.
Starbucks bought Peets from it's owners (Sal Bonavita who bought it from Alfred Peet).
The combined company later sold Starbucks.
So, the original Starbucks in now Peets.

From it, you can also figure out why there was a Starbuck in Davis and Sockton before there was a Starbucks in the Bay Area and why it seemed to blow up in the bay area. (Hint: Noncompete Agreement).

It is also probably true that Peets taught Starbucks how to roast coffee.
